When file size becomes a problem

Most email providers cap attachments around 25 MB, and plenty of online forms and application portals set their own, often stricter, limits. What actually makes a PDF large

In most PDFs, embedded images are by far the biggest contributor to file size — far more than the text itself, which is already very compact. Compression targets those images specifically, re-encoding them at a size and quality that keeps the page looking sharp on screen and in print while cutting away the excess data. Text-heavy documents with few or no images were already small to begin with, so you will see the largest size reductions on scanned documents, photo-filled reports and image-heavy brochures.
